What is Panchakarma?
Panchakarma is Ayurveda’s most profound system of cleansing, renewal, and rejuvenation. Far beyond a modern “detox,” Panchakarma is a classical therapeutic process that removes deep-seated toxins (ama), restores balance to the doshas, and strengthens digestion and vitality (agni and ojas).
Through carefully sequenced therapies, a Panchakarma gently guides the body and mind back to their natural state of harmony. It is not a “one-size-fits-all” program—each retreat is individually designed based on your constitution, health concerns, and seasonal needs.
Panchakarma is traditionally recommended when:
You feel sluggish, heavy, or out of balance
You struggle with digestive issues, chronic conditions, or low energy
You want to prepare for a new season, life stage, or major transition
You are ready for deep reset—physically, mentally, and emotionally
-
In Ayurveda, true health comes when body, mind, and consciousness are in alignment. Yet modern life accumulates physical toxins, unresolved emotions, trauma and subtle stress that disrupt this balance. Panchakarma is Ayurveda’s most complete method to:
Clear toxins from the tissues, digestive tract and organs
Reignite healthy digestion and metabolism
Strengthen the nervous system and immunity
Restore clarity, calm, and resilience
Lay the foundation for long-term vitality and longevity
-

Each day of Panchakarma is designed to be spacious, restorative, and deeply nourishing.
· Morning: You’ll begin with gentle self-care rituals and light practices to awaken the body and prepare for therapies.
· Therapies: Each day includes 2–3 hours of treatments, such as warm oil massage, Shirodhara, or other therapies customized to your plan.
· Meals: Freshly prepared Ayurvedic meals are served daily—simple, nourishing, and tailored to support your cleansing process.
· Rest & Reflection: Depending on your personalized plan, late afternoons may include additional therapies or supportive practices. The remainder of the afternoon and evening are reserved for rest, journaling, or quiet integration. This time is as essential as the treatments themselves, creating space for your body and mind to absorb, process, and restore.
Every detail of the day is intentionally structured to guide you deeper into balance while giving you the freedom to truly slow down and receive.
-
While each journey is unique, most clients experience:
Improved digestion, elimination, and metabolism
Relief from bloating, congestion, and heaviness
Deeper, more restful sleep
Reduced stress and anxiety
Clearer skin and brighter eyes
Relief from pain, inflammation, and stiffness
A lighter, more energized body
Greater clarity of mind and emotional stability
Strengthened immunity and resilience to seasonal change
A renewed sense of vitality and peace

At Oso Botanicals, Panchakarma is offered with the same reverence and precision described in the classical texts, yet held in an intimate, deeply nurturing setting. Each retreat offers one-on-one care and space to truly rest.
We honor authentic Ayurvedic methods, using traditional therapies, high-quality herbal preparations, and seasonal wisdom. Every detail—from your daily meals to your custom therapies—is crafted to support your unique constitution and healing journey. This personalized approach ensures that your Panchakarma is not only effective, but also deeply restorative and transformative.
-
While destinations like Mexico, Bali, or India may sound appealing, traveling long distances before or after Panchakarma can disrupt the healing process. Panchakarma works deeply with the nervous system, tissues and digestion, making minimizing travel essential. Air travel aggravates Vata dosha, which is contraindicated during and immediately following Panchakarma.
Denver offers a central, accessible, and peaceful location—ideal for both Colorado locals and those traveling from nearby states. Nestled in a quiet home environment, our retreats provide the sanctuary you need without the stress of airports, long flights, or time zone changes.
-
Traditionally, Panchakarma is a process that unfolds over 12–21 days for the deepest transformation. However, shorter retreats can still bring profound benefits.
At Oso Botanicals, we offer 5, 7, and 10 day Panchakarma retreats:
· 5 days – a gentle yet powerful reset, ideal for those new to Panchakarma or short on time
· 7 days – the most balanced option, allowing for deeper cleansing and rejuvenation
· 10 days – the most immersive, offering space for profound release, renewal, and integration
The right length for you will be determined during your pre-retreat consultation, based on your constitution, health goals, and current needs and availability.
-
Preparation is a vital part of the Panchakarma journey—it helps your body and mind ease into the process so you can receive the deepest benefits.
After your initial consultation, you’ll receive a personalized preparation plan that may include herbs, dietary adjustments, and lifestyle practices tailored to your constitution and health needs. About 30–14 days before your retreat, you’ll begin these practices to gently prime your digestion, mobilize toxins, and settle your system.
By the time you arrive at the retreat home, your body will be ready to release more easily, your mind will be calmer, and you’ll step into Panchakarma fully supported.
-
Your Panchakarma journey is fully guided with consistent support and check-ins.
· Before your retreat: You’ll meet with your practitioner for an in-depth consultation to design your personalized Panchakarma plan and preparation protocol.
· During your retreat: You will connect with your practitioner daily to review your progress, adjust therapies as needed, and ensure your experience is unfolding safely and effectively.
· After your retreat: About one week after completion, you’ll receive a follow-up consultation to support integration and begin your post-Panchakarma Rasayana (rejuvenation) plan.
This steady rhythm of guidance helps you feel held, supported, and confident every step of the way.
-
Every Panchakarma is unique—your therapies are carefully chosen to match your constitution, health goals, and current state of balance. While no two retreats are exactly the same, most clients can expect a blend of the following classical Ayurvedic treatments:
· Daily Ayurvedic Oil Massage (Abhyanga): Warm, herbalized oils applied in rhythmic strokes to calm the nervous system, improve circulation, and mobilize toxins.
· Shirodhara: A steady stream of warm oil poured across the forehead to quiet the mind, ease anxiety, and promote deep rest.
· Nasya: Herbalized oils and therapies applied through the nasal passages to clear the head, sinuses, and subtle channels.
· Vasti (Herbal Enema Therapy): A cornerstone of Panchakarma, used to cleanse and nourish the colon while balancing Vata dosha.
· Virechana: A carefully guided purgation therapy to clear excess pitta and heat from the body.
· Lepana: Herbal pastes applied to specific areas to reduce inflammation, swelling, or localized imbalance.
· Pinda Svedana: Warm bolus massage using medicated herbs, grains, or rice to ease stiffness, reduce pain, and restore vitality to the tissues.
· External Vasti: Pools of warm, medicated oil applied to targeted areas such as the heart, back, knees, or joints for healing and nourishment.
· Marma Therapy: Gentle activation of subtle energy points to restore flow, balance prana, and release tension.
These therapies are supported by daily meals, herbal formulas, and rest periods that allow the body to integrate the treatments fully. The exact combination is determined after your intake consultation, ensuring your Panchakarma is uniquely tailored to you.
-
Each Panchakarma experience is unique—no two journeys are exactly the same. The sequence of therapies, the depth of detoxification, and the kind of shifts you experience will depend on your constitution, health history, and the length of your retreat.
That said, participants often report:
· Improved digestion – lighter, clearer, and more efficient
· Restful sleep – deeper, more restorative nights
· Stress relief – a calmer nervous system and greater emotional stability
· Renewed energy – increased vitality and stamina
· Mental clarity – sharper focus and a sense of ease in the mind
· Relief from chronic concerns – such as inflammation, joint pain, fatigue, or skin conditions
· Stronger immunity – greater resilience through the seasons
· Deeper wellbeing – a feeling of lightness, balance, and inner peace
Many clients share that Panchakarma becomes a turning point in their relationship with health—shifting not only their physical state, but also their awareness of how to nourish themselves in daily life.
-
Panchakarma is a powerful healing process, and while it is generally safe, it is not appropriate for every condition or life stage. For example, Panchakarma is not recommended during pregnancy, times of extreme weakness, or certain acute illnesses.
To ensure your safety, every retreat begins with a comprehensive pre-retreat consultation. During this time, we carefully review your health history, current medications, and personal needs. This allows us to determine whether Panchakarma is right for you at this moment, and to design a plan that supports your unique constitution and health goals.
Your wellbeing is always the priority, and great care is taken to ensure your Panchakarma unfolds in a safe, nurturing, and effective way.
-
The days and weeks following Panchakarma are just as important as the retreat itself. This is the time when your body and mind are integrating the deep cleansing and restoration that has taken place.
To support this process, you’ll receive comprehensive post-treatment guidelines, including:
· Dietary recommendations to continue supporting your digestion and healing
· Lifestyle practices that help you carry the balance of Panchakarma into your daily life
· Herbal protocols designed to nourish and rebuild your strength
Every participant also receives a complimentary follow-up consultation about one week after the retreat. During this session, we’ll check in on your progress, answer questions, and refine your Rasayana (rejuvenation) plan for long-term vitality.
For those who wish to continue with more guidance, ongoing Ayurvedic consultations are available to keep your healing journey supported well beyond the retreat.
-
Your Panchakarma retreat is an all-inclusive experience. Pricing is based on the length of your stay and covers everything you need for your journey—private accommodations, daily Ayurvedic meals, all treatments and therapies, custom herbal protocols, supplies, oils, and consultations before, during, and after your retreat.
We believe this work should be accessible while also honoring the value of our practitioners, the cost of high-quality supplies, and the retreat home itself. For this reason, we offer a sliding scale of $300–$600 per day, allowing you to contribute at the level that feels sustainable while supporting the depth of care you’ll receive.
5-Day Retreat: $1,500–$3,000
7-Day Retreat: $2,100–$4,200
10-Day Retreat: $3,000–$6,000
From the moment you arrive, every detail is provided so you can fully focus on rest, healing, and renewal.
